A 200 tonne round sling is the workhorse of very heavy lifting: an endless loop of high-tenacity polyester yarns inside a protective woven cover, rated to a working load limit of 200 metric tonnes (about 220 US short tons) and manufactured to EN 1492-2 with a 7:1 safety factor. China Lifute Sling Group builds these slings in our TaiZhou factory for offshore yards, ports, precast plants, wind energy projects and heavy machinery installers, and supplies them factory direct with the cover colour, working length, diameter and identification data agreed on your drawing.
Because the load is carried by the whole circumference rather than by two eyes, the sling can be picked up at any point along its length, chokes down onto an awkward casting without marking the surface, and weighs a fraction of the steel wire rope it replaces. That combination is why project engineers specify this capacity class for lifts where a steel sling would scratch, kink, or simply be too heavy to handle on site.
Working load limit: 200 tonne (220 US ton) in vertical hitch
Minimum breaking load: 1400 tonne, tested to a 7:1 safety factor
Standard: EN 1492-2, CE marked; DIN 8338 and ISO 3158 available on request
Material: high-tenacity polyester core, woven polyester cover, optional PU/TPU coating
Temperature range: -40 °C to +100 °C (-40 °F to +212 °F)
Hitch modes: vertical 1.0, choker 0.8, basket 2.0 (basket within the 45° leg angle)
Customisation: working length, diameter, cover colour, sleeve, wear patch, ID tag

The core is a bundle of continuous high-tenacity polyester (PES) yarns wound into a closed loop. Polyester absorbs shock loads better than wire rope, does not corrode, and is unaffected by the moisture and salt air of a marine yard. It is also a poor conductor, so there is no spark risk when the sleeve rubs across steel.
The cover carries no load. Its job is to protect the core from abrasion, cutting, UV and chemicals while giving the inspector something to look at: a damaged cover is the early-warning signal that the core may be compromised. Where the sling will run over a sharp or rough edge we add a PU or TPU coating, a reinforced wear sleeve, or a fitted protection pad.
Every sling is fitted with a label carrying the rated working load limit, the safety factor, the manufacturer, the standard applied and a unique serial or batch reference. The cover colour and label follow the coding agreed with the customer, so a storeman can identify a sling's capacity in the rack without reading a drawing.
Batch samples are proof loaded and tested to destruction by an independent laboratory, and the test certificate can be supplied with the shipment along with the declaration of conformity and the material certificate. Certificate packages for notified-body or classification-society scrutiny can be arranged when the order is placed.

A round sling is rated for one vertical hitch. Every other configuration changes the load in the sling, so the capacity you may use changes with it:
| Hitch | Mode factor | Capacity of a 200 t sling |
|---|---|---|
| Vertical | 1.0 | 200 tonne |
| Choker (choke) | 0.8 | 160 tonne |
| Basket, two legs up to 45° | 2.0 | 400 tonne |
The mode factors above follow EN 1492-2. Where a basket hitch is opened beyond a 45° leg angle, or where more than two legs share an uneven load, the effective capacity must be re-calculated before the lift — see our note on how a sling's WLL and mode factor change with hitch type.
The sling is manufactured and marked in accordance with EN 1492-2, the European standard for round slings made of man-made fibres, which fixes the construction requirements, the 7:1 safety factor, the marking, and the information that must be supplied to the user. Each shipment can be accompanied by:
Declaration of conformity to EN 1492-2
Proof load and breaking load test certificates from an independent laboratory
Material and yarn certificates
Inspection certificate listing the serial numbers of the slings supplied
If your project calls for a different standard, or for third-party witness testing, tell us at the enquiry stage and we will quote the documentation package as a separate line.
Module lifts, subsea equipment deployment, mooring and port cargo handling, where salt air and wet working conditions make a corrosion-resistant polyester sling the practical choice.
Precast concrete beams and segments, steel structures, bridge girders and tunnel elements, where the soft cover protects both the lifting point and the finished concrete surface.
Tower sections, nacelles, blades and foundation components, lifted in basket or double-basket configurations from the quay or the hardstand.
Machine installation and relocation, mill rolls, dies and fabricated assemblies, where a steel sling would mark or damage the machined face.
Securing and handling oversized loads, railcar and flatbed transfers, and yard operations, where an endless round sling can be choked at any point along its length.
Send us the following and we will quote against the drawing rather than a catalogue number:
Effective working length (the length as used around the load, not the flat length)
Diameter, or the required capacity in each hitch configuration
Cover colour and label data, including your own brand or customer ID
Whether a PU/TPU coating, wear sleeve or protection pad is needed
Certificate and documentation package required, and the destination port

Factory direct. We weave, sew and finish the sling in our own plant in TaiZhou, so the price reflects the factory rather than a trading layer, and the delivery date reflects our own production schedule.
Made to your drawing. Working length, diameter, colour and label data are built to the enquiry, which is what a lift of this size normally needs.
Documented quality. Test certificates, declarations of conformity and material certificates issued with the goods, not after the fact.
Rigging advice. We will check the hitch configuration, the mode factor and the edge protection with you before the order is released.
It has a working load limit (WLL) of 200 metric tonnes, approximately 220 US short tons, in a vertical hitch. In a choker hitch the capacity falls to 80% of WLL, and in a basket hitch it doubles, provided the legs are kept inside the 45° angle limit specified by EN 1492-2.
Round slings made to EN 1492-2 carry a safety factor of 7:1, so a 200 tonne capacity sling has a minimum breaking load of approximately 1400 tonnes. The 7:1 factor is the ratio between the minimum breaking load and the rated working load limit.
Yes. The core is high-tenacity polyester and the cover can be supplied with a PU or TPU protective coating, so the sling resists saltwater, most chemicals, UV exposure and abrasion. For offshore and subsea work we build the sling to the coating and label specification agreed with the project, and we recommend a documented pre-use inspection regime.
A round sling, also called an endless round sling, is a continuous loop of polyester yarns enclosed in a woven tubular cover, so the load is distributed around the whole circumference and the sling can be used at any point along its length. A webbing sling is a flat woven belt with eyes at each end. Round slings are normally chosen for very high capacities and for loads where the contact point must not be marked.
Yes. We manufacture to the effective working length, diameter and cover colour given on the customer drawing, and can supply the sling with a protective sleeve, a reinforced wear patch, or identification tags to the buyer's specification. Send us the drawing or the required length and hitch configuration for a quotation.
Inspect the cover for cuts, abrasion, heat damage and chemical attack before every lift, and check that the label data, including the WLL and the traceability reference, is still legible. Store the sling clean and dry, off the ground, away from direct sunlight, heat sources and chemicals, and never in a way that leaves a permanent sharp bend in the sleeve. Any sling with a damaged cover or an illegible label should be withdrawn from service and referred to a competent person.
Send us your working length, diameter or required capacity, the hitch you will use, the cover colour and the documentation package you need. We will reply with a factory price, the lead time and the certificate list for your order.
